And they absord millions in unpaid bills because the government mandates ERs take all comers or send them to another hospital to be stabilized.

Again, the government is the problem.

Many do, and jack their prices to cover it. In my case, it's a well paid HMO. Up on a hill away from the poor. They can only get there by car. They get almost no welfare cases. They all go to the downtown hospital.

They charge that because the Gov allows it.
