The incredible multitasking abilities, notification bar and user friendliness of Android never cease to amaze me. And what happened today simply blew me away. Recently I downloaded the apps iStockManager and CardioTrainer Pro. Amazing apps all on their own. The iStockManager app completely replaces all my Windows 7 trading software on AmeriTrade. It can do everything my desktop apps can do. Real time streaming quotes, real time stock news, Level II, real time charts, trades, options, you name it. Then you have CardioTrainer. This app is simple A M A Z I N G!!! It tracks your workout while having the ability to let you know how well you are doing with a wonderful and very clear instructions. But here where all of those apps, together, and Android's true multitasking and notification abilities blew me away today. We have 3 dogs that I like to take them long walks 3 times a day. So today I tried the cardiotrainer app along with the iStockManager App and the Media Player app (playing a playlist of my favorite songs). But now here comes the fun part: While listening to my songs, the cardiotrainer app (almost like a DJ would do), would lower the volume of the music playing and saying its instructions of how well I was doing during my workout. And it was beautiful to hear. The music would lower in the background enough so that the voice of the cardio trainer would be heard very clear while still the music playing in the background. After he was done the music will go back to the normal volume. It was like having my own DJ. And same with the iSTockManager. I had set up some limit trades and it would notify me when certain levels were reached and my trades executed with a vibration and more information on the notification bar. In fact I even placed a trade and had it execute while power walking with my dogs. All while the music player and cardiotrainer never missing a beat. I even took a phone call while all this was gong on and even looked up a website on the internet. While all these apps were running. It was AWESOME! It was like perfect ballet in motion. It was beautiful to watch how all the different apps worked in such harmony together multitasking like nothing was happening. Now if someone with an iPhone 4 could chime in and tell us about their multitasking experience with an iPhone be my guest. But when I had an iPhone 3GS, such a beautiful ballet of different apps was impossible (and I'm not talking about hearing music while doing something else but having dramatically opposite apps like a trading platform and cardiotrainer, or website, interact and multitask with such harmony without the OS missing a beat. There are so many things that we take for granted in the Android OS (like its flawless multitasking and it's awesome notification bar), that going back to an iPhone would be like going from Windows 7 to DOS. IMO, most of the Apple fanbois who have never experienced an Android phone they don't know what they are missing. And it is why Android will continue to grow by leaps and bounds and will completely dominate in 2011.
