LaLanne is gone.... what an optimistic, inspiring guy! I was a dues paying member of his clubs for many, many years. I like to think that on one occasion this membership saved my life. About 15 years ago I had a bad bout of back pains, and spent an entire summer showing up at the club at about 6 am, using the sauna, swimming, etc. before going to work... In early October I went for a swim in the ocean off Montauk, and couldn't come out - got caught in some currents. The water was quite cold (and the waves were big), and that didn't help. Eventually I was able to get out, but only because after many months of exercising I was in quite an excellent physical shape. Should have written old Jack a thank you note, he would have enjoyed the story.... :)
