Peruvian Mining Claims Rose 84 Percent in 2010, Ministry Says

Peru’s mining industry increased the number of its exploration concessions by 84 percent last year, the government said.

Peru granted 9,638 mining concessions totaling 5.56 million hectares (13.8 million acres) in 2010, the country’s Energy & Mines Ministry said today in an e-mailed statement.
