brian, u can use sunw as a tax writeoff if u close the positions.
i m still holding idx, good news on it few days ago but did not help.

Brian: The DJX and SPX puts are very expensive and don't move particularly well. Consider shorting the SOX or Morgan Stanley Hi Tech indexes. I'm actually thinking about buying SOX calls, vulture that I am.

Brian, Those dow and index puts have certainly made a lot of sense over the past several days as I guess that would have been like a hedge to protect ones position in the markets
