So when it is broke the poor should be last in line and the rich and middle class take it all? After thinking about it, you are right at this point. Those who paid the most into it should get the most. But when it is broke the rich should be last. But then it should be dissolved and never again used.

I think most will agree that Social security and Medicare will become insolvent, long-term, but I wonder what the short- and medium-term health of both systems would look like if...

- all illegal aliens and their anchor babies were deported immediately, thus forbidding them from leeching any additional benefits

- all businesses and contractors that knowingly employ(ed) illegal aliens were levied with very substantial corporate fines, which would go directly into the Social Security and Medicare trust funds

- all U.S. citizens who never paid into the system (except for the infirmed and physically/mentally disabled) were permanently cut off from both programs, thus forbidding them from leeching any benefits

- Congress returned the money that it stole from the trust funds over the years, with interest

I think that Congress should cut, slash, and eliminate as much government fat as possible to meet the government's requirement to honor ALL legitimate Social Security and Medicare benefits and entitlements

The word "entitlements" has been bastardized and demonized to the point that it is deemed a "bad" word that reflects negatively on senior citizens, and I have no doubt that government bureaucrats and politicians want it that way, pitting young against old on the social arena

The best advice I can give to young people entering the work force today, is the same advice the old-timers gave to me many years ago, and they were perfectly correct: "DO NOT TRUST THE GOVERNMENT! It is comprised of thieves and leeches!"

Bottom line: It is an understatement to say that the U.S. government has BIG bills to pay. The federal government is not obligated to fund daycare centers, abortion clinics, illegal alien activity, foreign governments, etc. Conversely, it IS obligated to fund Social Security, Medicare, a strong military, and interest payments on its existing debts! Everything else should be targeted for deep, deeper, and the deepest cuts. Likewise, plans to gradually eliminate all government ponzi schemes should be implemented, ASAP. -ng-
