Mark Twain famously said, "History doesn't repeat itself, but it often rhymes."

I am looking at (but unable to post) an hourly chart from a situation similar to the present one (a breakout from a 3 week decline) from almost exactly a year ago. If GDX were to follow this script, then

1. tomorrow morning (the day after the breakout rally) GDX would open higher, get stuck near the initial high, and close slightly lower

2. Friday's opening opening rally would fail at that same level and close lower

3. Monday GDX would fall to re-test yesterday's lows

4. Tuesday late the first real rally leg would begin in earnest

We'll see if this history "rhymes".
