More likely to be shot than who/what?

People in the US as a whole are more likely to be shot than people in say Canada.

They can reduce their risk by arming themselves (yes armed people are more likely to be shot, because people who are at risk of being shot are more likely to decide to arm themselves, if you don't feel at risk you might arm yourself anyway, because your going to go shoot targets, or for some other reason, but if you do feel at risk it gives you a rather obvious reason to arm yourself)

But it is a fact that people who own a gun will shoot themselves or others far more often than people without guns..

Yes but not very often.

And esp. not very often if you exclude people with psychological problems or mental deficiencies.

Most gun owners never shoot themselves. They are far more likely to die or be seriously injured in their car, because of an accident, then they are to shoot themselves, even if you add up both accidents and suicide attempts.

For many people carrying reduces their risk rather than increasing it.
