RFF: Re: Is that growth in terms of unit volume or dollar volume?

Dollar volume! Though you're right the size of the numbers makes it look like unit volume doesn't it! Standard Cells are projected to grow at 30% for the next 5 years - not too shabby huh! Considering that some are saying the overall semi-market will double in 5 years that means the overall market is expected to grow at just 15%. Theoretically, therefore, LSI seems to be in the right place.

I don't know why they have not executed better but as I've mentioned previously I suspect the fundamental answer lies in the fact that their high-density design capabailities are not being taken advantage of because of a lack of high-density design tools. (Corrigan almost admitted as much in a recent interview which I posted a few days ago.) So they are forced to bid for the "big kahuna" type of chips and other than the PlayStation and maybe one of two others they have not hit pay dirt.

Market tanking so much today after FOMC decision really took me by surprise. Maybe there was something they said that spooked everyone. Will look into it.

Still think the markets are using the SEA thing as an excuse to sell and not the cause itself. On the other hand, if Japan goes and suffers big-time pain, then the US overall are in serious trouble. Hmm... come to think of it maybe SEA's angst is causing Japan pain which in turn would cause the US pain and BOOM, like those arrangements of dominos, one pushes the next which pushes the next ... until all fall down. Perhaps the market is not so irrational. (I do not know much about the Japan thing - just speculating.)

Did not realize Greenspan was testifying. Thanks for the tip.
