he spends time evenly between thailand, hong kong, and row. - he is in chiang mai because (i) his wife is there and runs a biz, (ii) swiss arranged to have its national health insurance honored in chiang mai where some hospitals have setups specializing in servicing the large swiss expat contingent, (iii) the swiss feel more comfortable on the mountains of chiang mai, as opposed to the beaches of koh samui - he spends time in hong kong and has an office here because of hong kong's (i) freedom, (ii) dynamism, (iii) flexibility, (iv) banking, (v) ... - he spends time traveling because he likes to mix with folks on issues of economics and finance - his living comes mostly from advisory and money management. the gbd report is a hobby.
