A comment from someone who has visited Egypt:

"Funny you mention Obama's speech in Cairo in June 2009. When I was in Cairo last April and asked some Egyptians about Mr Mubarak, they chuckled and did their best to hide their disgust with him as they sighed 'yes, Mr Mubarak is still here -- still here -- still here."

But when they spoke of Mr Obama, it was with great respect -- they'd place the fingertips of their right hands onto their hearts when they spoke of how proud they were that he came to Cairo and stood out to address the Egyptian people. They were truly inspired by him. More than one Cairo resident pointed out to me the dome -- like a bandstand -- out in front of the University where Obama stood to deliver his speech. From that day forward the residents referred to it, laughingly but respectfully, as "The Obamadome".
