With all the government layoffs coming at the state and local levels, we'll find that it does indeed drive growth and create jobs, and that the third of the stimulus which went to the states saved N number of jobs for 2 years.

>> I think you've got the wrong idea if you think increasing the size of government is a growth tool.<<

So you would disagree with the statement that the space program stimulated growth in multiple new industries?

<<<Tax cuts keep capital in the hands of individuals and corporations, and they use that capital for growth (to make more money). >>>

Exactly. But they do nothing to build and maintain highways, seaports, airports, and educate the next generation to compete. They do very little to pretect our national security and natural resources. There is a role for government. Government has to insure the safety of our food supply and they have to protect us from natural disasters and global health issues.

Government has to establish the rule of law and enforcement to maintain a civil society.

Cut wasteful and inefficient spending by all means but we have to invest in maintaining the greater good. There is a balance that has to be maintained.

Cost cutting is one tool that has to be used but what we need to do require a lot of different tools.
