Egyptian military has yet to play their hand in Egypt but they will ultimately take over...

The thing here is that the Egyptian military has been effectively in charge since the 1950's. Yes.. they have eased up and permitted parliamentarian government, but the military has always held ultimate power that is not always subordinate to civilian rule.

And we can see by the desertion of many Egyptian police, that the people are sick of their corruption and have little respect for them.

No police and the military will have to establish martial law (which it effectively has). But it's unsure just how divided the bulk of the military forces are loyal to their leadership, and how may are sympathetic to the protesters.
