Well, I guess everyone has to compile their own list of what they want from a living situation. As long as a place is reasonably stable, it could be attractive in terms of cost and headaches compared to the US. We have a higher cost of living here and that's only going to get worse. We're looking at potentially much higher taxes. The health-care issue is ridiculous and I don't see a satisfactory resolution.

I'm curious why you say to avoid a cheap labor country. I've spent quite a bit of time in the developing world and find it quite nice. There's a lot to be said for the slower pace of life and much lower cost of living.

<< If I had to pick where to, OZ and Canada would pop in mind. >>

OZ is fine I'm sure. But Canada? You've GOT to be kidding. NO WAY I'd advise an American to move up here.

As every American already knows, our health care system is HORRIBLE. Cut yourself and need a few stitches? At LEAST a three (3) year wait!

As every American already knows, it's really really cold up here. Heck, we get snow 11 months of the year. I should show you pics of me cross-country skiing in June! Lots of fun!

As every American already knows, we are super socialist. You can expect to have 90% of your wages taxed away. Count on it.

I've been on the waiting list for an apartment for six years now. I gave my local mayor an envelope stuffed with cash last week. I got bumped up the list near the top! Why didn't I figure this out sooner? Stupid me!
