Yes, Asia is very, very crowded. It's tough to find privacy there outside your house. We are avid backpackers/trekkers. In Asia, people live almost everywhere there is water up to maybe 4000 meter elevation. National Parks are a joke compared to North America. A country might designate a "National Park", but people may live inside the area and they may have been for hundreds or thousands of years so it's tough to re-locate them.

On a day-to-day basis, though, my life wouldn't be soooo different. I live in a crowded metropolitan area here in the US. I could get a place in a quiet neighborhood in Phnom Penh and actually have a more tranquil life. I could get a place down in Sihannoukville ( en.wikipedia.org
down on the Cambodian coast and live a very mellow life, yet have access to a lot of Western comforts.
