It still does look to Europe, even if not as much or as confidently, and it trades a lot with Europe.

More to the point (since you where talking about examples for democracy), it might be friendly with various Arab countries (although to the extent that means friendly with their governments it would harm its democratic example), its Islamic like the Arab countries, but it isn't Arab, it just isn't going to serve as much of an example. Neither would Iran if it went democratic.


For Egypt, actually, I suspect they will look to the UK for a model.
