We where talking about one topic or group of topics (deaths from cars and guns, the numbers of each, analogies and arguments based on information about each etc.), then you post something entirely from left field (deaths from medical mistakes). Its up to you to show relevance. Without generating an argument on why its relevant your either changing the topic (which is fine but you should do so more clearly), or posting a non-sequitur). Its not like you posted an analogy or comparison of medical mistake deaths to gun deaths, you just blurted out a question about them not counting. You could have posted "blue", or "turtles" and the post would have been just as connected to the conversation up to that point.

Maybe you have something to tie the subjects together in your head, but its not reasonable to expect other SI posters to be mind readers. If you have some important connection in mind post it. Don't just jump around at random, if you expect to be taken seriously.
