I remember one winter when it sounded like a jet engine had gone off in the basement. It was a copper pipe that had burst on a -40 night and was flooding a newly finished with carpeting basement.

Another time we're drilling an everyone is parking close to the rig in the minus 40 so they would not have to walk so far and we hit a high pressure water aquifer which sprayed out and over the rig for several days. Four trucks were covered with 3-4 inches of ice.

The only thing I know about winter is carry

1) booster cables
2) bottle of vodka/whiskey
2) couple cans of starter fluid
4) beef jerky - kit kat bars
5) tea pot
6) first aid kit
7) axe, hatchet, machete and file
8) couple of small torches
9) about ten lighters
10) spare serpentine belt and tools to change belt
11) extra gas
