I don't think that's the case. But even if it was, those people had a very shallow understanding of the topic.

"Global warming" exclusively refers to an increase in the average temperature of the entire earth. "Climate change," which includes an expected increase in extreme weather, is a result of global warming.

It's not surprising that a lot of people don't understand the distinction, but it's real, it's there, and it's scientifically supported.

Ted, just a few years ago Al Gore claimed that this planet has a fever. Global warming zealots thought that we'd see less and less snowstorms.

He never said that. Your silly, uneducated pundits said that. What he said is the temperature of the earth's atmosphere is rising and that will result in weather extremes like we have not seen in the last two millennia. And all he was doing was repeating the findings of seasoned scientists. Since your pundits are poorly educated and couldn't possibly understand what he was saying, they had no choice but to turn it into a joke.

You see how this works. What you all don't understand or don't want to hear, you find a way to make it amusing [to yourselves]. Its very much the behavior of children. And privately, you tell yourself that before anything really bad can happen God will step in and prevent the worst. Your silly mythologies help you stay in denial and allow you to play your silly games.

In the meantime, you have no choice but to turn your back on all rationality and science. Despite the fact that advancement has been a human cornerstone for centuries, you want to turn your back on it. You are the people who told Columbus that if he sailed West he would fall off the edge of the earth, or to the Wright Bros that if Man was meant to fly God would have given him wings.

Global warming is real.........and its going to get worse. Enjoy!
