Nuclear subs go to Bangor on Hood Canal.. not Puget Sound for the most part although a few go to the Bremerton Naval shipyard as do nuclear carriers for rebuilds, refueling and maintence. Large oil tankers are not allowed on Puget Sound. The refineries we have are in the waters north of Puget Sound in the state. Fuel is distributed from them mostly in buried piplines running east of the Sound all the way down to Portland, Oregon.

Because of the layout of Puget Sound any spill of significance would have large effects environmentally. The State has been enacting laws the last thirty years to address these potential dangers. Hazardous cargos are tightly regulated.

It's "green central" here!
