This is where I see Android/Google:

We all know Androids are getting market share but no one can figure out how to invest in that. No one in the Android sphere is making money on Android, including Google. I see Android as a drag on Google, just a stop gap measure against Apple. No profits, just maintaining their profits. It's becoming an octopus, sucking down their best coders, distracting management, and it's getting worse and worse with the proliferation of devices, apps and vendors.

Google more or less HAD to do it since Microsoft and Rim dropped the ball and none of the hardware makers had a clue.

Now Google is stuck in the mud endlessly supporting a FREE OS for a bunch of losers who couldn't do it themselves, and the losers are stuck with Google owning the keys to the kingdom about which Google really doesn't care.

Google is like an absentee landlord with bad tenants. Distracted by bigger and better things but forced by tenants to repair the toilets and pipes and roof and sagging porch as cheap as they can.

Meanwhile Apple is like the Pig that built his home out of bricks.
