Alternatives get help because wise people see the future need of their technologies Mostly because of subsides - can't make power at night or when your solar panel is covered in snow and those windmills freeze up in cold weather. Now if by alternative you mean something that works like Nuclear - excellent choice - except we got to get that retarded president to finish Yucca Mountain - or we'll just elect another one with more sense and less palms to grease.
