if USA would have taken Baghdad in 1991 it would have been very difficult to find blame for the 911 disaster

Not warped Chas.. pretty common viewpoint outside of the US that Saddam was not involved in 911.. so the the question becomes what was the real point of the exercise considering the entire mass of WMDs located. Think it's a coincidence that Canadian troops went to Afghanistan and not Iraq ? That case could be made... Imagine if only the quagmire of Afghanistan was selected ... that's never going to have any closure like Iraq did.. pretty devastating for the popular American psyche I would think ..

Considering the US past experience with Iraq.. I (and many) find it pretty hard to believe that the US leadership didn't know pretty well what Iraq had and didn't have.. but the pre invasion exercise was a pretty good coliseum 'esque' drama..
