Certainly it wasn't any union in the public sector....including the Post Office....

Really? Which one of the Unions did that?

Union workers are a relatively small part of the corporate workforce, and I didn't have them in mind when I made my statement. I had in mind white collar industries like the ones I worked in and had friends who worked in.

Nevertheless, union workers share in the losses. Perhaps not as much, but they do get laid off or permanently let go.
