Environment is a huge factor in the attitudes we develop. Some have argued that political inclinations may be hardwired in the brain and although there are likely physiological influences, that wouldn't fully explain the extent of regional differences in politics.

This is the NYT setting a trap. Trying to tempt us into demanding affirmative action and quotas for conservatives - thus exposing our "hypocrisy".
