Columbo: Microsoft & Objectivity

It's great to know Microsoft is concerned with objectivity...just what you and I were talking about when the recent "research" on developers and java was released. <g>

Right now, I'm happy with my MSFT. I expect management, with all their resources, to continue to find ways to profit from the tech revolution. And, unlike some other companies, MSFT can afford a few mistakes. Not a bad position.

You said ASIC designers. Who cares about ASIC designers? However, I'm sure that Cyrix and AMD hate Intel. Do you hate Intel? They are a microprocessor monopoly, for all intensive purposes.

On a side note, I'm really getting tired of people preaching to others what kind of people they are in terms of 'definitions'. People who say things like this are just being self-righteous, in my opinion.

When I post things on this thread, I try to use intelligent language, not moronic one-liners. "Hey Definition X". Stupid.

Microsoft is successful because it has been instrumental in bringing computing to the masses. There is no question that MS software is bloated and buggy, but it allows users like me to do the stuff we want to do. I don't want to write programs, I want to process words and manipulate data and get information.

Are there better programs out there to do this? Sure, but Microsoft puts it all together with product, packaging, price, distribution, and the rest of the Marketing bundle. They have become a near-monopoly because they do this so much better than anyone else.

I would like to see this thread return to a discussion of Microsoft's stock value and what's impacting it. That's the real issue.

(I look forward to a snappy retort to my ignorant comments; who knows, I may even be a new definition!)
