After reviewing the material on their website, it looks as though Applix's Java code is strictly a front-end with little or no client-side processing. That's really the logical approach to supporting NCs and the perfect strategy for meeting their customers needs. However, it looks as though a general purpose office product, even a thin-client one, is a long way off. If not, they have done a truly terrible job of communicating the capabilities of Anywhere client software on their website. I don't think that's the case given the general honesty and clarity of everything else, so I assume the office productivity tools are not capable of stand-along operation on an arbitrary Java host. Perhaps that's why the stock has been remained depressed, investors may have been hoping for something more in line with Lotus' eSuite due out early next year. How it got to this level in the first place is crystal clear from last Q's earnings report.
