NEWS: Trimm Technologies new system and storage enclosures

LAS VEGAS--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Nov. 13, 1997--

New systems ideal for OEMs and System Integrators needing fault-tolerant chassis

Trimm Technologies, a premier manufacturer of computer, RAID and fibre-channel system packaging, today announced it will debut its new line of system and storage enclosures during Comdex in booth #L871. The extensive line of new products being unveiled during the 5-day show include: FibreRack-8J, UltraTower-8J, UltraRack-8J, UltraRAID Tower 6, UltraRAID JBOD subsystem and UltraDesk systems.

These sophisticated storage systems are specifically designed for true fault-tolerance and accommodate the industry's new 10,000 rpm drives, Fibre Channel SCA disk drives, fast 20/SCSI and Ultra SCSI bus speeds, hot-pluggable drive canisters and N+1 power and cooling. The contemporary design and look of Trimm's new storage enclosures will integrate well with customer's existing rackmount and networked systems.

Product Highlights:

Trimm's new FibreRack-8J (FR8J) is a 19-inch rackmount chassis that can accommodate up to eight 3.5-inch Fibre Channel SCA disk drives in a dual loop configuration. Supporting JBOD, Fibre Channel and 10,000 rpm drives, this enclosure meets demanding fibre channel applications. To ensure reliability, the FR8J features an interface electronics board that plugs directly into the system's midplane. External signals interface with a DB9 connector on the interface board. For optical applications, the FR8J will support most Media Interface Adapters (MIAs) on the market today.

For rackmount and tower applications, Trimm's new UltraTower-8J (UT8J) and the UltraRack-8J (UR8J) are the only systems designed to support both 10,000 rpm drives and Fast/20 SCSI bus speeds in one enclosure. Accommodating eight SCA interchangeable drives in hot pluggable canisters along with N+1 cooling, the UR8J and UT8J provide the system integrator with many options and true fault tolerance.

The new UltraRAID Tower Subsystems (URAB600s and UR53-600) provide mounting and power for up to six pluggable SCA-2 Wide Fast/20 drives and a board level RAID controller in one desktop package. The UltraRaid's hot pluggable drive canisters provide the ability to remove and replace a failed drive without costly downtime. The convenient canister assembly facilitates spare replacements in minutes. Preventing loss of valuable data, these systems feature dual redundant, hot pluggable 300-watt power supplies along with an audible alarm and battery backup. Options include an UPS and I2C interface connector, GUI interface and a SAF-TE interface.

As a companion to the UltraRAID Tower subsystems, the new UltraRAID JBOD (URJB-600s) subsystem offers ultra speeds in an expansion chassis. Ideal for JBOD, PCI/RAID and expansion applications, this enclosure features mounting and power for up to six drives in a rugged, power redundant package. Hot pluggable drives, N+1 power and full alarm functionality are included. Optional SAF-TE interface is also available.

Rounding out Trimm's new product line, the UltraDesk systems, are small desktop enclosures that support 10,000 rpm drives, Fast/20, Wide and/or UltraSCSI drives, space for one or two half-high drives and 16-position remote addressing. The UltraDesk is ideal for Digital Linear Tape (DLT), hard drives and removable media devices including CD-ROMs.

Ideal for system integrators and OEMs, Trimm's new enclosures offer the most comprehensive feature set on the market today.

we both think they are one and the same company. this one has trended down from a high of $40 in april of 1993 to $6.50 in april of 1997. it still is no money maker! the rally this year is still a bit of a mystery to me. their profile, for what it is worth, is located at: biz.yahoo.com. about all it has going for it are the earnings of -$4.27 per share.

so, where has the 1997 rally come from? it is images like this that are frightening. there are far to many stocks that are long overdue to fall out of bed. why are they on a si thread?
