Yes that's what I saw too. I'm not sure I'd want Apple to merge it's OS's, OSX is so powerful, but certainly make them very compatible. I always thought that was the beauty of the UNIX kernel and since WebOS runs on the Linux kernel and Rubinstein was around when Apple migrated he gets it too. Perhaps the two companies will be synergistic.

It's the other devices too, cameras, printers with the same OS. Very interesting idea. They "get" integration and they are out to leverage their experience making printers, cameras etc. Particularly interesting given our discussion today about OSs printing right out of the box.

I was also impressed with the 24bit music idea. I just downloaded a Grateful Dead .flac format show in 24bit. It sounds amazing despite that fact it was recorded by an amateur in the audience holding microphones. It lost quite a bit of it's verve when I down sampled it to make a CD out of it. 24bit makes a lot of sense nowdays with wider pipes and bigger drives.

What I heard today from HP is what I always thought Apple should do and that is fold the mobile and desktop OS into one ie. one OS multiple platforms.

I didn't see the presentation, but do you companies and individuals are going to abandon Windows on the desktop any time soon? It may be the devil but it's the devil everybody knows.
