I view the connection like this:
Accounting for the world implies more to me than knowing how the world works. It also touches on why. While I entertain the conceit that how and why are not separable, "why" and "what does it mean" qualify imo as tautology.
Even so I decided to examine your question biased toward "how", since I intuit that you meant it that way. I could be entirely off track!

OK I'll bite. I like to think that my worldview is as rational as I can make it. Is it rationalistic? That is arguable. I am curious with what plain and obvious truths you see me at odds. (I assume that's what you mean by tension.) Please consider that I won't agree to scriptural precepts being plain and obvious. All else - game on! cheers js
