ATR is a volatility indicator and was developed by Wilder along with ADX etc.

At extremes, IMHO, it tells you whether there is panic in the street (high) or out-and-out complacency (low).

When I am looking at the markets in general, I like to look at a range of indicators - it tells more than a narrow few of one or two indicators, IMHO.

For example, the put-call ratio modified by volatility leads the markets and when a major divergences occurs between it and spx, as it is now, you know something is afoot.

The financials in concert with bullishness is an indication of whether it is a good idea to be in or out of the markets. That indicates a red flag right now IMHO.

And the consumer compared to inflation has broken down in the P&F chart I maintain.

All these indications and more tell me there is a more than average chance of a major change in market direction. BWDIK?

Zacks is saying this is a short term top with a 2 - 3% pullback. From there it is upwards for the next 12 months!
