I learned how to drive in a 1970 Buick Wildcat with a much bigger engine than the Cutlass so I know what you mean. I'm really not up to speed on American cars nowadays since I haven't bought one since 1978. Haven't missed them at all either.

Nowadays if you want real performance you probably have to step up to the $25-35K range. An ordinary nice mid-size can be had for under $20K easily, however.

Yes - if you want something comparable to that Cutless - the closest thing today is probably the Dodge Challenger 392. Inaugural Edition of the 392 version going for about $45K. You could get a stripped down version without the 392 hemi - but . . .
