This is what I've been referring to as making it difficult to have this conversation.

When you refer to market share you can be talking about installed base or the portion of the total market that was sold by a given mfr in the MRQ.

The 4% figure mentioned in the beginning of the article is presumably referring to MRQ, based on the context. I have no idea what time frame the 0.3% mentioned above means -- is it all sold to date, just those sold in the one-year period Q4'09 - Q3'10? Who knows?

When you have these figures if you're talking about anything other than MRQ or perhaps the last two qtrs, it doesn't mean much IMO. Unlike the installed base of PCs vs. Macs, where that can be determinative of future markets.
