Last week brought the wife's 2005 Chev Equinox in for major service (160k km / 100k mi), to the tune of $650:
- Oil & filter change, always with Castrol Syntec (I buy a few jugs whenever it goes on sale)
- Tune Up (new spark plugs & fuel filters, air filter was OK)
- Transmission service (oil & filters)
- Coolant service (flush and fill)

Major service also calls for replacement of serpentine accessory belt but dealership wanted $200 to change it, I'll buy the part for $70 and do it myself next summer. I also wanted to get the brake fluid flushed / changed but I'll do that next summer also and save the cost. Dealer suggested testing the battery and I almost said OK as the battery is still original but then I sobered up and asked how much, $50. No thanks, can get a new one for around twice that. Will keep driving until the battery dies and put that money towards a new one.

Vehicle has been good so far, only problem has been failed oxygen sensor in the first year of ownership which was replaced under warranty. Now that the major service is done we hope to keep driving it for another 160k km unless it is no longer dependable.

Will need another set of tires before next fall, the Goodyear Fortera Tripletred have been excellent overall for year-round use on this vehicle and I would not hesitate to purchase them again.
