I respect your opinion, d[--]b, but I respectfully disagree with your conclusion.

An income tax constitutes slave labor performed for the government, in my view.

The act of taxing an income is very wrong and unjustified. It discourages work and creativity. I would much rather be discouraged from buying something than discouraged from working or creating.

Plus, why is it considered a negative to discourage consumption and reward saving? I note that the act of saving or conserving is a core conservative principle.

I've always believed a consumption tax would be cheered on by everyone except the profligate spenders. The problem of course is that congress would find a way to implement it in addition to, rather than instead of, the income tax.
