Umm, he was given liberal leave during the last part of his tour of duty. A period when the guard was not taking on new recruits. He was given permission and had a prior superior officer veryfy this. This was just one of Dan Rathers frauds you are repeating. Dan Rathers frauds are proven.

He was suspended from flying for medical reasons. The Guard screwed up his orders and gave him orders to a location where he didn't reside, and he finished his guard commitment by drilling every weekend and some weekdays. I personally examined all of the drill muster forms and he did all the drills he was required to do. That's how it works, time spent, not you have to be assigned to a unit through June 1963 or something like that. You owe drill time. He did the time.
