There is a lot of discussion about extending the retirement age that gets a lot of grief. I wonder what would happen if the incentives to take SS early - like I did - would do the same thing with less controversy.

Frankly, I found little reason not to take it now. I have to live into my upper 70s to have been better off waiting. Frankly, I think in another 15 years the world will be so different that waiting is stupid.

As for me taking SS - I am on the record of being willing to give it up - the day - every other special interest group leaves the federal trough!

Are you serious about removing people from SS? It is not a normal welfare in that we and our employers have funded SS. They are just giving back money that we contributed for our retirement years.

That said it would be a good thing for those not needing the ss to channel the money to charities.
