It was over a CD note. When I went into the army my mother took my savings, added a little and bought a CD. She got the interest. When I got home it was turned over to me and I got the last payment. 1099 showed I had received all the interest. My mother had paid the tax on the first 3 payments.

Got a letter from the IRS. Sent them the paper work and got an all clear letter. Next year it happened again and I sent the paper work and the all clear letter and got another all clear letter.

Next year I got the same notice. Sent the paper work and the all clear letters. Then I recieved a lien and a notice my house was going up for sale over $84.
