I think Neeka was spot on when she said people are hurting right now. Even if not hurting nor even likely to be hurt, everyone (almost) I know is uneasy. Our retired friends, like us, are frustrated by the difficulty of getting reasonable levels of safe income from our investments. There's no certainty re Medicare and to a lesser extent, SS.

The old confidence that every year will be at least slightly better than the one before has been shattered for lots and lots of people. Uncertainty rules the day.
