Gooch - >>>>>To my knowledge, JMAR hasn't produced a single selling product.<<<<<< Whoa! If they haven't, how did they achieve revenues of over $16 mil. last year -- an increase of over 300% from 1992?

I've only owned the stock since the summer of '96, so I haven't gone through all the "failures and write-offs" that you mentioned. Perhaps since you have, you are more apt to feel frustrated with the stock.

Gooch, I have been in JMAR for three years. Yes its had its ups and downs, but from my perspective, the stock has done very well. Revenues are up a lot, and JMAR has had positive earnings for quite a while. I am frustrated that JMAR is not 10-20 now which is where I thought it might be now (from a 1994 perspective). You are right that a lot of the aquisitions in the past did not work out. Timing has also been off (Your Lightknife example).

But to defend JMAR, has not PPL made original products since its aquisition?

Is the mirage a new product? Micromachining? LightKnife? Developments of laser technology in the Xrl program?

You have every right to be upset. Since the restructuring in 1994, the company has done well. The Cal Asic deal was a mistake. The return of 1/2 of the JMAR stock was I believe because JMAR had a due diligence with CATS, and CATS did not fulfill what it had promised. So, JMAR may yet do something with CATS with a financial backing and joint venture partner.

Gooch, you're a breadth of fresh air amidst the stifling cheerleading that predominates here. I'm unimpressed with Martinez's business acumen as well, based on the Cal ASIC fiasco alone. Going public with "we need a partner with whom to share expenses" is unlikely to produce any takers. JMED, on the other hand is a neat company, one that's made good money for me in the past couple of years. I didn't realize that Martinez divested JMED, -- a mistake, IMO. JM has a reputation as a researcher and has been successful getting funding for XRL productization from DARPA. PPL, like you say, is a good acquisition. Other products on the horizon might pay off. And we know JM et al want to see the stock move higher. On balance, do you see JMAR as a good long term prospect? Tulvio
