Joe:
There is a fair amount of support between 16 and 18 on the down side. There is no sense going against the tape, but a buy at the support ought to be a good averaging point. The markets could continue to drop as long as the turmoil in the international markets exist. Then December will arrive and the markets will wonder if the FED will tighten. I hope Greenspan will not be the 'grinch who stole Christmas.' Perhaps the usual Christmas holiday rally will occur.

JOE - this is pretty standard advice. don't think about
averaging down. if you have money to spend, spend it where
the best opporunity is without regard to existing positions.
if you end up averaging down on something you already own,
so be it, but don't make that a reason to buy.

good luck
