Reports are Nokia's first move was to approach RIMM about working together and RIMM wasn't interested.

That makes no sense. They are going to replace their phones anyways with WP7. So what's the difference if those were iOS, or WebOS or RIMM or Android. At least all of the last 4 also have tablet strategies unlike WP7. Nokia did not get anything with WP7. They didn't get a mature ecosystem, or tablet strategy, or software that is cutting edge. They might as well have stuck it out with MeeGo.
