I have heard plausible but not compelling arguments for two radically different scenarios: 1) Things will get hot. 2) We're on the threshold of a new ice age.

I expect that the science will be done. Instead of spending quadrillions on cap&trade etc., I would prefer to spend a few billion on emplacing instruments, collecting data, supporting the academic departments that do the primary research. I would make quantifying and understanding the ocean's role as a carbon sink and thermohaline regulator a priority. I want something a bit chewier than the computer models being used. To rephrase S. Clemens, "lies, damned lies, and computer models".
