To the thread,

My read of the technical indicators gives an ambiguous signal on what to do with SGI.

1) When I compare longer term moving average with shorter term moving averages, there is no buy signal indicated. I compared the 200 day M.A. with the 50 day M.A.; I also compare the 14 day M.A. with the 7 day M.A. In both comparisons, the shorter term M.A. has crossed below the longer term M.A. and is still trending down.

2) The RSI (relative strength indicator) indicates a buy signal as it is currently < 30.

3) The stochastic indicator is less than 20 - also a buy.

4) Williams R - a measure of oversold/overbought indicates a strong oversold position at 100 (the maximum).

5) OBV (on balance volume) is trending negative - not a buy.

I am hopeful that SGI will turn around soon as I am long on some Feb 17 1/2 calls. However, as long as the market continues trending down, holders of SGI looking for liquidity will probably keep selling. I need to check the short interest but I would doubt that many would be shorting SGI at this level.

Have a great day,
Paul Haynes
