Union workers typically have higher pay and better benefits than their non-unionized brethren. Union membership IS in decline, because of the decades-long attack from the (R) party and media-owning corporations, who represent the ownership class, and their mass of deceived "useful idiots", of which YOU are one.

Union corruption and takeovers by organized crime has been a big problem for them. This seems mostly in the past now, so look for unions to come back, as workers realize that unions aren't the enemy, but are the ONLY organizations that can win them better pay and conditions.

I really can't think of a professional field where workers are exploited as much as software engineers are. What other professional puts in as many as 40 hours a week unpaid? Software engineers need a union more than ANY profession!

Like your weekends, vacations and holidays? Thank the unions!
