True, but it's easier and more pleasant to avoid the problem in the first place and deal only with reputable people with good buildings and easy running contracts with no hassles.

I took a building owner to court decades ago [in Ottawa] as a tenant, and it was a pain in the neck. Our really nice building deteriorated badly over 2 years with no maintenance, vandalism and the pool being closed - the owners had changed. I had fun with the court process then we moved out. It was quite a hassle and my preferred solution was to simply move but a fight was fine to cost them some money. I do DIY law so it cost me just some time but I learn things and have some fun on the way.
