Corning Stockpiles $2 Billion of Metal, Wall Street Journal Says

Corning Inc. stockpiled $2 billion of metal, mostly platinum and rhodium, for “certainty of the price,” the Wall Street Journal reported, citing company Treasurer Mark Rogus.

Approximately 20 percent of all consumer products, including cars, electronics and pharmaceuticals, contain platinum or require it for processing, according to the Journal, citing Jon Nadler, an analyst at Kitco Metals Inc.
