So, it appears we disagree on the duration, not the concept ?

Kids are being asked to learn more than I had to, and thus should be in school at least one more month, I think. At the high school level, especially, they would feel less pressured. High school kids who have serious extracurricular interests are really pressed and often have to choose between.

I'd like it if my children had gone to school year round on a block system with two week vacations in between each quarterly block. With this they could have had a slightly shorter school day and thus more time for parttime work or for extracurricular pursuits which are also an important part of their education, I believe.

As you said, they forget much during their 3 mos. off, especially in math.
