If 30% is too big a cut for delivering magazines, how come physical subscriptions are often less than 50% of the cost of having the newstand deliver the magazine?

I'm looking at an Economist subscription here, and the cut is exactly the opposite - 70% to the newsstand, 30% to the magazine publisher.
