He's never heard of a problem with the XPS 15 i7's. He said they are still available on Dells sales page, I said they are NOT, even the salesperson knew that. He did some more researching, his supervisor said its a supply and demand problem as the engineers did not notify them of any issues. BUT the sales person told me there an issue with the i7. In the last 7 days, they raised the prices of the i5 systems to what the i7's were selling for. So its either a bug, or a shortage of i7 processors. I want to get to the bottom of this, don't want to end up with a problem notebook. If it's a shortage, then I will feel really happy. Just found this: Feb. 17, 2011crn.com "We have seen a lot of shortages in our desktop Core i3 and core i5 products, and prices have gone up on those systems," Swank said. "We're guessing that that's because of the Sandy Bridge delay. OEMS are having to buy everything they can among current products, causing shortages. As a result, it's either very hard to get the product, or you have to pay more for it." Swank said system builders have had to adjust to the unusual situation of facing a shortage in the supply of processors, while they wait for more shipments from Intel (NSDQ:INTC). "We're hearing that products are supposed to start freeing up in March, but at this time we just have to wait to get the product," Swank said. "It's been a while since there's been a CPU shortage like this." Maybe I panicked too soon? I don't know, guess I will do more calling on Monday if customer care is open. Again I hope it's a shortage, cause I got a steal on this system.
